Tree Trimming Accident

Case 12-015056
Thursday, March 29, 2012

At approximately 3:00 PM on March 29, 2012 a tree trimming company was working in the rear yards in the 1800 block of Pine Road in the Huntingdon Valley Section of Abington Township. A PECO electric line runs through the back yards which separates Pine Road from Lippincott Road. One of the tree workers, a 47 year old male who resides in Philadelphia, was up in the tree trimming limbs. This male somehow accidently came in contact with the high tension electric wire and was electrocuted. One of his co-workers on the ground was able to pull on a rope that was dangling from the victim to the ground to break contact between the victim and the power line but the victim remained hung up in the tree. After PECO cut power to the wires Abington Fire Company was able to use ladders to lower the victim to the ground where he was pronounced dead. The identity of the victim is not being released pending notification of relatives.
