Welcome to Abington Township Police Department

A State and Internationally Accredited Law Enforcement Agency,
Proudly Serving "One of the 100 Best Communities in America".

A Word From the Chief of Police

Police Chief William J. Kelly

As Abington Township's Chief of Police, it is my honor to speak for the outstanding men and women of our Department and welcome you to our newly-redesigned website!

It has been re-designed to provide even better information to our "customers" -- the residents and businesses of our great community. However, we always welcome your ideas and suggestions to make it even better, more functional, and more user-friendly.

From this website you can get a large amount of information on many subjects. Using our interactive crime map you can see what crimes are occurring, cross-referenced by type of crime, date of occurrence and location of occurrence.

Similarly, information about permits, parking bans, and many other police-related topics can be accessed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week on our website.

In addition to many of the "usual" topics on our website, several new issues may be of interest to you. Revisions to the Township's "Solicitation Ordinance" were put in place to protect homeowners from being harassed in their own home by door-to-door solicitors. Also, In the first quarter of 2014, Red Light Enforcement Cameras will be in effect at 3 dangerous intersections in Abington. All of the information is available about these cameras including a complete description, the rational for their placement, and the goals of this program.

2013 was another great year for the Abington Police Department! Included with many awards and recognition, are two of special note: our outstanding SWAT Team again won the County-wide SWAT Competition, and our Police Department won one of the most prestigious awards in law enforcement, the IACP CISCO Community Policing Award. This year there were only 4 winners of this award in the world!

Finally, please remember to lock your home and your cars and be sure to drive carefully on Abington Township streets. By doing these two simple but important things you will help us to keep Abington as safe and as crime-free as possible, and maintain our status as "One of the 100 Best Places To Live in the U.S.!"
