A Word From the Chief of Police

Police Chief William J. Kelly

The men and women of the Abington Township Police Department are dedicated to making Abington Township the best and the safest place to live, work, and raise a family.

That is why we are so excited about a new capability that will be an outstanding tool to help keep you and your family safer during emergencies and better informed about things in your community, all year long.

Starting today, a new state-of-the-art emergency notification system called Ready Montco, powered by the same Everbridge system used during the Boston Marathon manhunt, is going live in Montgomery County. This system will allow you to receive a variety of emergency, community and weather notifications generated from the Abington Township Emergency Management Office via text message, email and/or voice call to your mobile devices and land line phone. It will allow our Emergency Management Staff to push emergency notifications to all registered users in a matter of minutes, as well as to target notifications based on geographic location (such as snow emergency routes or areas prone to flooding) or a person’s special needs. Additionally, it will allow residents to relay important information back to the Emergency Operation Center. Please take a minute to register yourself and family members for this important service at: www.readymontco.org.
