Theft from Motor Vehicle Arrest

During the summer of 2017, Abington Township experienced a rash of thefts from unlocked vehicles throughout the township. Numerous vehicles which were parked both on the street and in driveways of homes were entered during the overnight hours. As a result of surveillance, examinations of physical evidence, reports from alert civilian witnesses, and cooperation with other local police departments, Abington Detectives were able to identify a suspect.
An arrest warrant was issued for 20 year old Louis CAPELLI, of the 8000 block of Dorcas St. in Philadelphia. CAPELLI was charged with thefts from motor vehicles on San Gabriel Ave., Rhoads Ave, Wellington Rd., Buck Hill Rd., Meetinghouse Rd., and Glenbrook Rd. in Abington Township. All of the thefts occurred in June, 2017. CAPELLI turned himself in to police on October 27, 2017, and was arraigned and released on unsecured bail. A preliminary hearing was scheduled for December 12, 2017 in front of District Judge Juanita Price.

CRIMINAL CHARGES, AND ANY DISCUSSION THEREOF, ARE MERELY ALLEGATIONS AND ALL DEFENDANTS ARE PRESUMED INNOCENT UNTIL AND UNLESS PROVEN GUILTY.
