Point of Gun Robbery *Update*

On January 13, 2022 at 1:14 pm a point of gun robbery occurred in the 1900 block of Easton Rd in the Willow Grove section of Abington Township.  The victim had just withdrawn money from an ATM when a suspect, armed with a handgun, approached and demanded the money.  After taking the victim’s money the suspect entered the passenger side of a waiting vehicle and fled the area.   An officer responding to the robbery observed the suspect vehicle leaving the area and attempted to stop it, but the vehicle fled at a high rate of speed.  The vehicle was subsequently located by officers, unoccupied, in a residential area close to Highland Elementary School.  As a result, Highland Elementary as well as several other schools in close proximity were placed on lockout status.   Additional officers responded to the area and were able to locate and arrest both suspects who were attempting to flee the area on foot.  The arrest resulted in the recovery of the firearm used in the robbery and the victim’s money.

On January 14, 2022, both suspects were arraigned on charges and bail was set at $99,000 cash.  Both suspects failed to post bail and were transferred to the Montgomery County Correctional Facility.
