Press Release: Firearm Related Offense

Press Release Case # 22-036170

December 9, 2022

Firearm Related Offense

Several months ago, the Abington Police Department, while working on an unrelated case, discovered a social media post of a suspect pointing a semi-automatic handgun at a uniformed Abington Police Officer operating a marked Abington Police vehicle. The officer was unaware at that time that this was occurring, as the suspect was stopped next to the officer and slightly behind him at a red light, and there was heavy tint on the suspect’s vehicle. In the post, the sender of the photo referred to himself as a “Cop Killer”. After intercepting this disturbing post, detectives initiated an extensive investigation to track down the person who took the photo. The investigation led to the identity of the suspect, Ramil Dyer, 22 years old, from the 6100 block of N. Marshall St Philadelphia. Detectives were also able to determine that the firearm used in the photo was a real firearm. On December 8, 2022, officers from the Abington and West Norriton Police Departments arrested Dyer when he arrived for work in West Norriton. Dyer was charged with Recklessly Endangering Another Person, and he was transported to Montgomery County Correctional Facility after failing to post $5,000 cash bail.
