Case 13-005473
Pedestrian Struck by Train

At approximately 6:15 PM on February 7, 2013, a 20 year old Ardsley man was struck by a westbound (outbound) SEPTA express commuter train on the Lansdale-Doylestown Line. The accident occurred at the North Hills Train Station. It appears that the man entered the track area and tried to cross the fence separating the east and westbound tracks at the station. He was prevented from doing so by an eastbound train which was stopped at the station. When the victim saw the westbound train approaching he attempted to return to the platform but was unable to do so in time and was struck by the westbound train which was not stopping at the station. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. All indications are that this was an accident but follow-up investigation will be done by SEPTA Police and Montgomery Coroner’s Office.
