Parking Regulations

Motorists are reminded to observe the parking regulations in Abington Township. There are many parking violations that are regulated by state law and Township Ordinance. The fines for parking violations vary from $15.00 to $300.00 plus court costs. Violations may be written on a Township ticket form or a state citation.

Below are some of the general rules when parking:

  1. Do Not park on the sidewalk.
  2. Do Not park on a crosswalk
  3. In front of a public driveway
  4. Within 15 feet of a fire hydrant
  5. Within 20 feet of a crosswalk at an intersection.
  6. Within 30 feet of any flashing signal, stop sign, yield sign or traffic control signal located at any place on the roadway.
  7. Within 20 feet of any driveway entrance to a fire station or on the side of the street opposite the entrance to any fire station within 75 feet of the entrance.
  8. Handicapped space without a visible placard or plate.
  9. Any place where there is a specific sign posted.
  10. DO NOT PARK FACING ONCOMING TRAFFIC, VEHICLES SHOULD BE PARKED AS CLOSE TO THE CURB AS POSSIBLE AND FACING IN THE SAME DIRECTION AS TRAFFIC FLOWS.
