Arrests for Theft, Conspiracy and Receiving Stolen Property

On October 29, 2019, the Abington Township Police Department received  a delayed  theft report from the Garda Armored car company. Garda representatives reported a theft of US Currency from one of their armored cars occurred at the the Willow Grove Park Mall on October 8, 2019. They reported that during this theft, US Currency in excess of $380,000 was removed  from the armored car while it was parked and the employees were making their rounds. Abington Police partnered with other local, State and Federal law enforcement agencies which ultimately resulted in the identification and arrest of the three suspects who participated in the theft.

The arrested individuals were identified as Alberto Torres, 37, Christopher Flores, 35 and Michael Vazquez, 38, all of whom are from Newark NJ. In the below photo, the suspects can be seen conducting surveillance prior to  the theft.

During this investigation , a portion of the stolen money was recovered and is currently being held as evidence by a partner law enforcement agency in New Jersey.

It is believed that these suspects may have been involved in additional thefts. Anyone with information related  to this theft or other thefts that may have been committed by these suspects is asked to contact the Abington Police Department at 267-536-1100.
