Armed Robbery Arrest

On December 8, 2017 at 9:54 PM, Abington Police responded to the 7-11 store in the 1800 block of Old York Rd., where the store clerk reported that he had just been robbed. The clerk reported that four males entered the store wearing black ski masks and gloves. One of the males immediately jumped over the counter and attempted to open the cash register, while the three other males grabbed the clerk, pressing a handgun against his head. The suspects forced the clerk to open the cash register and they removed the money from the register, took numerous packs of cigarettes and fled the store. An investigation by the Abington Police Detective Division lead to the identification of all four suspects. Warrants were obtained, and on December 14, 2017, with the assistance of the Philadelphia Police Department, detectives arrested 22 year old Frenchy DELAROSA of the 4800 block of N. Franklin St. Philadelphia, 21 year old Jamil HENDERSON of the 6700 block of Smedley St. Philadelphia, and 23 year old Kenneth SPELLER of the 3900 block of N. 17th St. in Philadelphia. The firearm which is believed to have been used in the robbery has been recovered. The fourth suspect, a 17 year old juvenile from Philadelphia, was taken into custody on January 3, 2018. This juvenile suspect will be charged as an adult. All four suspects face charges including robbery and related offenses. DELAROSA is being held at the Montgomery County Correctional Facility, and waived his preliminary hearing on January 3, 2018. HENDERSON and SPELLER are detained in Philadelphia with a preliminary hearing date pending. The 17 year old juvenile will be arraigned today.
