Case # 22-033625

Armed Carjacking

Update as of 9/30/22: As a result of the recent request for the public’s assistance, both suspects have been identified and arrest warrants were issued. Both suspects are juveniles, so their identity will not be released. On the morning of September 30, 2022, Suspect #1, a 17-year-old Philadelphia resident, was arrested by Abington and Philadelphia Police at his home. He was charged with robbery and related offenses and detained at the Montgomery County Youth Center. Police are actively searching for Suspect #2.

On Saturday, September 10, 2022, at 8:15 PM, an 82-year-old man finished shopping at the Willow Grove Park Mall, and was walking through the parking lot towards his truck. He was approached from behind by two suspects, one of which struck him in the back of his head with a hard object. The suspects forced the victim to the ground and told him, “This is a hold up- give us all your money.” The suspects stole a gift that the victim had just purchased for his wife and the keys to his truck, and then fled the scene in the victim’s truck. The stolen truck was a red 2008 Ford Ranger two-door pickup truck with a ladder rack in the bed, bearing Pennsylvania registration YVG3700. Both suspects were described as being in their teens, black males with small to medium build. The truck has not yet been recovered. The Abington Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance with locating the stolen truck and identifying the suspects. If anyone has information pertaining to this investigation, please contact the Abington Police Department at (267)536-1100 or Detective Jeff Anderson at (267)536-1102.
