Report of a Man with a Gun – UNFOUNDED

 At approximately 6:19 PM on September 27, 2016, Abington Police received multiple calls of a “man with a gun” in a store on the first level of Willow Grove Park Mall which is located at 2500 Moreland Road in the Willow Grove Section of Abington Township.  The initial caller said that a man was holding a gun behind his back.  Multiple APD Units responded to the scene and located the man suspected of having the gun.  Through interviewing witnesses and reviewing surveillance video it was determined that the man did not have a gun but rather was holding a cell phone behind his back.  The reason that multiple calls were received about the incident was that they all originated from the same location and the reporting witness asked others to call.  Several stores in the Mall chose to close their doors for a short period of time on their own initiative but everything was back up and running very quickly.
