Case 10-18388 Wednesday, May 19, 2010
On May 19, 2010, at 10:05 AM the Abington Police Department received a report of a person armed with a gun in the parking area of Abington Senior High School. The caller provided limited information, and refused to identify himself. Police units were immediately dispatched to the incident, and Abington Senior High School officials went into an immediate lockdown. Police and School Officials worked cooperatively to search for the reported individual.
At approximately 10:40 AM, Police and School Officials determined that the report was unfounded, and that there was no threat to public safety. The School District lockdown procedures and coordination with the Abington Police Department worked effectively to assist with the resolution of the incident. School Officials ended the lockdown, and students returned to class.
During the investigation of the incident at the Abington Senior High School the Abington Police Department received a report of a robbery at the Abington Bank 273 Keswick Avenue, Glenside. It has not been determined if these incidents are related. The investigation into the robbery at Abington Bank is continuing.
