Citizens' Police Academy

Abington Police Department’s
Citizen’s Police Academy

The Abington Police Department is happy to announce the start of our 2012 Citizens’ Police Academy. The classes will be held on Wednesday evenings from 7 pm until 9 pm. The first class is scheduled for March 7, 2012 with graduation planned for April 25, 2012.

The Academy is open to residents of Abington Township and our surrounding communities. At the completion of the course there will be a graduation ceremony and the participants will be awarded a certificate. The graduates will become proud members of the Abington Citizen Police Academy Alumni.

During the eight weeks participants will become familiar with how police officers perform their duties. Topics will include SWAT, Accident Investigation, Police K9, Use of Force, Crime Scene Processing, and many other interesting police functions. Police officers from Abington and other agencies will instruct the classes.

There is no charge to participate! Anyone wishing to participate must complete an application available at Abington Police Department.
