At approximately 4:10 PM on August 26, 2010 a six year old boy was struck by his mother’s car in the Glenside section of Abington Township. The boy’s mother and siblings had just returned home and the car was parked in the driveway of their home. The driveway is steeply sloped. The victim’s mother had turned the car off and removed the keys. She had unloaded several of the children, including the victim and was preparing to remove the others when the car inexplicably rolled backwards striking her six year old son. The child was transported to Abington Memorial Hospital but did not survive his injuries. The name of the victim and his family is being withheld until all family members can be notified.
