Press Release
Case 07-19518
Monday, April 30, 2007
On April 18, 2007 graffiti was discovered on a restroom wall at
Penn State Abington that was interpreted as a possible bomb threat.
Abington Police and University officials continue to investigate
this incident. Although the threat did not appear to be credible,
Abington Police and University Officials worked together to develop
a plan of action which would minimize any potential threat to students,
staff, faculty, or visitors to the campus. This plan of action included
using K-9 explosive detector dogs to search the campus.
On April 29, 2007 Abington Police, with assistance of other area
police K-9 teams and Pennsylvania State Police, conducted an extensive
sweep for explosives on the campus. A total of 14 explosive detector
K-9's searched in and around every building and vehicle on campus
and the dogs gave no indication of the presence of explosives.
Classes at Penn State Abington are scheduled as usual and there
will be an increased presence of police and security personnel on
the campus.
