Press Release
Case 07-19596
Tuesday, April 24, 2007
On April 18, 2007, a retail theft was reported to Abington Police
by Keswick Cycle Shop, located in the Glenside section of Abington
Township. Two males posed as legitimate customers and were provided
with helmets and were allowed to test ride two high end bicycles.
When asked for identification prior to the test ride, they left
a wallet and an Arizona driver's license, which later proved to
be counterfeit. Actors never returned to the store. The total loss
was over $9,000.00. The store owner contacted other bicycle store
owners, alerting them of the theft.
On April 19, 2007, the actors were seen in another bicycle store
in Leola, Lancaster, County, PA. The East Lampeter Police responded
to the bicycle shop and the suspects were arrested and charged.
The actors were identified as William Jurkowski, age 21, of Newark,
Delaware and Bradley Dodson, age 22, of Newark, Delaware. Both actors
are students at the University of Delaware and reside in apartments
near the campus. Following their arrest, evidence conclusively linked
them to the theft at the Keswick Cycle Shop and search warrants
were obtained by the Newark, Delaware Police Department, for their
residences. Arrest warrants were obtained for both subjects for
the Abington thefts. During the service of the search warrants,
several other stolen bicycles, multiple wallets, fake driver's licenses
and gift cards were found. Both actors are being held in Lancaster
County Prison in lieu of $30,000 bail each for the East Lampeter
charges. A video arraignment for the Abington charges was held and
bail for these charges was set at $50,000 each.
