About The Memorial

Abington is planning a memorial to honor its Police Officers and Fire Fighters. The planned memorial, entitled "Honor, Service, Sacrifice" is planned as a life-size sculpture depicting a small child being aided by a police officer and a fire fighter.

The sculpture will be placed next to the main entrance to the Abington Township Building, in the archway of the Greystone Cottage facade. The historically-significant Cottage was Abington's first Police Station when the department was established in 1906. The statues are being sculpted by Deborah Waddington-Smith, whose work has appeared in galleries and museum worldwide. The sculpture is expected to be completed late in 2002.
