About The
Memorial
Abington
is planning a memorial to honor its Police Officers and Fire Fighters.
The planned memorial, entitled "Honor, Service, Sacrifice"
is planned as a life-size sculpture depicting a small child being
aided by a police officer and a fire fighter.
The sculpture will be placed next to the main entrance to the Abington
Township Building, in the archway of the Greystone Cottage facade.
The historically-significant Cottage was Abington's first Police
Station when the department was established in 1906. The statues
are being sculpted by Deborah Waddington-Smith, whose work has appeared
in galleries and museum worldwide. The sculpture is expected to
be completed late in 2002.
You Can
Be a Part of the Memorial
By
purchasing an engraved brick, you, your family, or your business
can become a part of the memorial, as well as contribute to its
completion in a meaningful way. The walkway leading to the memorial
will be constructed with bricks that are engraved with donors' inscriptions.
Your message can be inscribed on an 8" x 4" brick for
a $100 donation. Also available is a 8" x 8" brick for
a $500 donation. For more information, contact Lt.
John Livingood.
