The Abington Township Police Department is a progressive state and internationally accredited agency comprised of 92 sworn officers and approximately 30 support professional staff serving a community of nearly 60,000 residents across 16 square miles. The Department has a tradition of excellence in service to our community supported by various divisions and special units  to include the following: Patrol, Traffic Safety, Detectives, Special Investigations/ Special Victims Unit, Community Policing, Tactical Unit, K-9, honor Guard, Crisis Negotiations, School Resource Officers, Crime Preventions Officers, DARE, The Abington Police Athletic League, etc.

      Crossing guards work during times of school openings and closings, ensuring that Abington’s children remain safe on their journey to and from school. Crossing Guard hiring, assignment and training is the responsibility of the Community Policing Division, 267-536-1073. All uniforms and equipment are furnished by the Police Department.

Community Service Officers (CSO’s) assist with a variety of community and youth-oriented programs conducted by the Community Policing Division. CSO’s are uniformed but are not empowered to conduct any law enforcement duties. All uniforms are furnished by the Police Department.
